Judge Richard Goldstone
Judge Richard J. Goldstone was a judge in South Africa for 23 years, the last nine as a Justice of the Constitutional Court. Since retiring from the bench he has taught as a visiting professor in a number of United States and European Law Schools. He is the Honorary President of the Human Rights Institute of the International Bar Association. He recently chaired the Independent Expert Review Group established in December 2019 by the Assembly of States Parties to review the ICC and the Rome Statue system. From August 1994 to September 1996 he was the chief prosecutor of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. From August 1999 until December 2001, he was the chairperson of the International Independent Inquiry on Kosovo. He is the author of For Humanity: Reflections of a War Crimes Investigator, (Yale University Press, 2001) and the co-author of International Judicial Institutions: the Architecture of International Justice at Home and Abroad (Routledge, 2015).
