Chief Charles. A. Taku

Chief Charles A. Taku is a leading International law expert, counselor and mentor before International Courts, Tribunals, International Adjudicatory bodies, international organizations and states. From 2017 to 2019, he served as President of the International Criminal Court Bar Association. In this capacity, he addressed the Assembly of State Parties of the ICC during the 20th anniversary of the Rome Statute December 2018 and also addressed the solemn opening of the International Criminal Court on 18 July 2018.  Since October 1999, he has been Lead Counsel at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the ICC in many high profile cases including that of Dominic Ongwen, Morris Kallon and Samuel Kargbo. He has also served as counsel at the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Lead Counsel, Atemnkeng v The African Union) and at the High Court and Court of Appeal of Paris, France. Chief Taku is a regular contributor to international conferences and has published extensively in the field of international criminal law.
